My Samples:

I wanted to create a surface with lots of 3-D elements.  Digi images are so versatile in this way.  I printed out the outline version of the bird in Tweetheart Outline set, and colored it with Copic markers.  I'm a little rusty, so I need to do it more often.  It's so relaxing.

Then I printed very small swatches of 3 patterned papers in the Valentine Tweets Digi Paper pack and punched them out with banner shaped dies (Hearts a Flutter, SU).  I scored the tops of the banners and folded them over the string.  I put dimensional foam dots under them so they would pop out on the card.  The sentiment (recolored digitally) is from Sending You Love Sentiment set.   The clouds are from My Favorite Things, and I just inked around the edges (Pool Party ink, SU).

My second sample was super fast and easy, but is packed with sparkly love.  The card base (Pool Party, SU) measures 4 x 4.  I printed a 3-1/2" square of the patterned paper from the Tweethearts Digi Paper pack, and layered it with a square of Riding Hood Red (retired, SU).  I added twill ribbon and some red glitter pearls and mounted the piece to the card base.

I printed 3 of the four-point star and heart shapes from a sheet of the Valentine Tweets digi paper, and cut the first layers so some of the blue showed, the second layer is cut around the red four-point star and the third layer is just the heart.  I used clear lacquer on the heart and sprinkled some pretty pink glitter on it.  One of the advantages of digi is there is no need for waste.  If I need a 3-1/2" square I can either crop a sheet (maintains pattern size) or resize a sheet (changes the pattern size).  Getting just the size you need for your card saves on ink too.  I use digi so much, and I don't find that I use an inordinate amount of ink.  I think it's a reasonable cost compared to buying patterned paper, having waste (just don't use all those scraps).  Time after time with digis, you use just want you need....again and again....an endless supply of paper!

My final project of the hop is this fun little note pad with decorated cover.  I used Curious Metallic Red Lacquer cardstock (110#), from CutCardStock.com.  It has a gorgeous shimmer to it and I love the weight for 3-D projects.  I used digi paper to decorate the front and back, from Ticket to Bliss Digi Papers.  Your free digi for this post is a sampler of this paper.  I used an owl from Owl Always Love You outline set, and printed an extra set of wings to pop up to hold the punched heart. I mounted the owl on a punched scallop circle in Pool Party cardstock (SU).

You can buy these skinny notepads in several places online.  Just google "skinny notepads."

These are so fun and fast to make.  My notepads measured 2-1/2 x 8, so I cut my cardstock cover at 5-1/2 x 8-1/4. You need a 1/4 inch spine to allow for the thickness of the pad, then I like the cover to extend about 1/8" on the sides, top and bottom...just to protect the pages of the pad.

We really hope you've enjoyed our blog hop.  Be sure to run through the blogs of our design team again just to make sure you've seen all their inspirations.  Several of us are posting on multiple days.  And Karen is offering her own blog candy today, so be sure to sign on for that!   A fun last day perk!

Head on over to Elizabeth's blog,
Warm Harted, and enjoy the rest of the hop.

The blog hop ends at 6:00 PM today.  I'll announce winners later this evening or in the morning.

Thanks for hopping with us!

  1. Back for Day 5 - I've had fun! I have really enjoyed your projects, and your DT's projects, and all the inspiration.

All three of your projects are beautiful. I love how all the elements just pop off the first card - just gorgeous - and that a great idea to ink the edges of the clouds - I'm going to try that. You definitely achieved the 3D effect. Love the sweet birds and the glitter heart on your second card - so sweet! And your third project, the skinny paper pad, is adorable - such a cute owl - and what a lovely little gift this would make.

I love your freebie paper too - thank you! Perfect for my Valentines - with all the beautiful freebies from this blog hop I feel like I've got a nice collection of your designs for my cards. Thank you!! So grateful for your freebies and the fun blog hop. I'm off to check out the other DT's blogs for Day 5. Wishing you a blessed day!
