My Samples:

I wanted to create a surface with lots of 3-D elements.  Digi images are so versatile in this way.  I printed out the outline version of the bird in Tweetheart Outline set, and colored it with Copic markers.  I'm a little rusty, so I need to do it more often.  It's so relaxing.

Then I printed very small swatches of 3 patterned papers in the Valentine Tweets Digi Paper pack and punched them out with banner shaped dies (Hearts a Flutter, SU).  I scored the tops of the banners and folded them over the string.  I put dimensional foam dots under them so they would pop out on the card.  The sentiment (recolored digitally) is from Sending You Love Sentiment set.   The clouds are from My Favorite Things, and I just inked around the edges (Pool Party ink, SU).

My second sample was super fast and easy, but is packed with sparkly love.  The card base (Pool Party, SU) measures 4 x 4.  I printed a 3-1/2" square of the patterned paper from the Tweethearts Digi Paper pack, and layered it with a square of Riding Hood Red (retired, SU).  I added twill ribbon and some red glitter pearls and mounted the piece to the card base.

I printed 3 of the four-point star and heart shapes from a sheet of the Valentine Tweets digi paper, and cut the first layers so some of the blue showed, the second layer is cut around the red four-point star and the third layer is just the heart.  I used clear lacquer on the heart and sprinkled some pretty pink glitter on it.  One of the advantages of digi is there is no need for waste.  If I need a 3-1/2" square I can either crop a sheet (maintains pattern size) or resize a sheet (changes the pattern size).  Getting just the size you need for your card saves on ink too.  I use digi so much, and I don't find that I use an inordinate amount of ink.  I think it's a reasonable cost compared to buying patterned paper, having waste (just don't use all those scraps).  Time after time with digis, you use just want you need....again and again....an endless supply of paper!

My final project of the hop is this fun little note pad with decorated cover.  I used Curious Metallic Red Lacquer cardstock (110#), from CutCardStock.com.  It has a gorgeous shimmer to it and I love the weight for 3-D projects.  I used digi paper to decorate the front and back, from Ticket to Bliss Digi Papers.  Your free digi for this post is a sampler of this paper.  I used an owl from Owl Always Love You outline set, and printed an extra set of wings to pop up to hold the punched heart. I mounted the owl on a punched scallop circle in Pool Party cardstock (SU).

You can buy these skinny notepads in several places online.  Just google "skinny notepads."

These are so fun and fast to make.  My notepads measured 2-1/2 x 8, so I cut my cardstock cover at 5-1/2 x 8-1/4. You need a 1/4 inch spine to allow for the thickness of the pad, then I like the cover to extend about 1/8" on the sides, top and bottom...just to protect the pages of the pad.

We really hope you've enjoyed our blog hop.  Be sure to run through the blogs of our design team again just to make sure you've seen all their inspirations.  Several of us are posting on multiple days.  And Karen is offering her own blog candy today, so be sure to sign on for that!   A fun last day perk!

Head on over to Elizabeth's blog,
Warm Harted, and enjoy the rest of the hop.

The blog hop ends at 6:00 PM today.  I'll announce winners later this evening or in the morning.

Thanks for hopping with us!

MY SAMPLES FOR DAY 4

I'm especially excited about my post for today's BLOG HOP sample.  The image comes from our newest Daydream Designer artist/illustrator, Katlyn Traxler.  She has some of the cutest images ever, available at KnK Designs, and I wanted to showcase her and this set before the blog hop was over.  I fell in love with this set immediately.  Cute little Kolar, an inspiration from her own sweet dog, reminds me of my Daisy so this one just stole my heart.

 Daisy opening her Christmas present

I used one of the patterned papers from Sweet Warm Ups Digi Paper set by Daydream Designs.  The other layers are cardstock: Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride from Stampin' Up and the white layer and oval frame are from Curious Metallic Cryogen White cardstock from CutCardStock.com.  Love the shimmery glitz of it.  I just added a few more embellishments to finish this fun-loving card.

This is a card designed by Katlyn using the same set.  The doggie takes on a totally different look with different colors.  I think she used colored pencils here, and I just love the homespun touch of the stitching.  Adorable, Katlyn.  Your images just make me melt!

YOUR NEXT STOP:  Warm Hearted
and Elizabeth's adorable creations.

MY SAMPLES FOR DAY 3

Here's something a little different for you on Day 3 of our hop.  I wanted to share this 3-D project and show you how to make it.  It holds 4 Kuerig K-Cups.  You could punch slots or different shaped openings for other types of gifties.
For the base of the box, cut a piece of heavy cardstock 7" x 10" then score and cut as shown in the diagram below.  You can copy and paste this image to a word document to make it larger.

Score all cut and score lines first.  Then cut out shaded areas and fold along score lines.  Punch out all openings before adhering box together. Side flaps overlap; adhere outside flap to the others.  The 1/2" flap adheres to the handle piece when the box is folded up.

To make a 2-cup holder use one pattern; for a 4-cup holder like my sample, make two boxes and adhere together with sticky tape.  To decorate, cut 1-7/8" x 3-7/8" panels for the four sides (4-cup holder).  Cut a 1-1/4" x 3-7/8" panel of patterned paper for each side of the handle.  You will have to punch the handle shape to align with the box if you chose to have a handle.  Decorate as desired.

To decorate my box I used:
  • Curious Metallic Cryogen White cardstock from CutCardStock.com.  It's shimmering and the perfect weight for 3-D projects like this.  I absolutely love it.  It's like SU's shimmer white only heavier and much cheaper!
  • Love You Tender Digi Paper from Daydream Designs
  • Snowbaby Love Color Set (puppy and small pink heart), Daydream Designs
  • Scalloped Heart of Hearts Sizzlit die (SU).
  • Trio flower punch (SU) and Melon Mambo cardstock for the layered flower.  Pearl center.
  •  Sentiment from Sending You Love sentiment set, Daydream Designs, recolored to pink
  • White satin ribbon, (SU)

MY SAMPLES

My first sample for the blog hop is a sweet card with a postcard theme.  The postcard, postal stamp, heart and sentiment come from the Sending You Love ensemble, one of our most popular sets.

My style in crafting is primarily a hybrid mix of traditional paper crafting and digital artwork.  I love personalizing digital images to exactly fit the project I have in mind.  Because they can be resized, recolored, flipped, rotated and layered, crafters have endless possibilities.  I printed the heart image from the color set, and cut it out to pop it up on the postcard.  I copied the postcard image, but before printing and cutting it out, I superimposed the sentiment and postal mark digitally.  I distressed the image, adding pearl/metal rimmed brads and matted the postcard with Riding Hood Red cardstock (retired SU).  The card base is Blushing Bride cardstock, currently available from SU.  The postcard and heart were printed on Whisper White cardstock.   I further embellished with hand-dyed seam binding that has been wrinkle set.

My second project for today, is a mini clip board, from Stampendous.  The digi paper used for the background is from the Tweetheart paper collection, and the tickets are from the Ticket to Bliss set.  I embellished with rhinestones, crochet ribbon, a smashed bottle cap, small heart and 7/8" scallop circle.  I used three colors of twine for the bows.

Here's just another view.
