Card #1--

Spring has definitely sprung at Daydream Designs, and if you've joined us each day of our hop you've walked through a huge garden of inspiration.  We are so glad you've spent time with us.  For this project I just couldn't resist using one of our own Katlyn Traxler designs. I absolutely love her style of art, and her images just make the cutest cards.  The image and sentiment used here is from her Critter Garden Outline set.  I used Copic Markers to color in the images.

The digi paper used for the background layer is from Sassy Frassy, and I just matched the colors of my Copics to the paper.  I love Katlyn's sweet little images.  The simple lines are perfect for using a wide variety of mediums for coloring or paper-piecing.  I will have to say I debated about the center of these flowers for awhile.  I thought about black or about adding a pearl.  I opted for extra simple...nothing at all, because that echos the open flower centers in the paper.

Card #2--

It's easy to create a collage or mixed media look with digi stamps.  Here I used the outline version of Poppies for You, because I just felt like coloring (Copics).  I printed out just the sizes I wanted for my little digi paper mats (from the same set) to use behind the image.  Another advantage of digis--no waste.  You can resize our digi papers for just the dimensions you need by either cropping or pushing/pulling the image "handles."  I opted for cropping to maintain the scale of the designs.  I have an old hymnal that comes in handy for music ephemera.  I love using these pages because it general makes me sing the hymns while I work.

I used the sentiment from the Poppies for You set too, cutting the words apart to echo the patchwork look of the card.  Fast, simple, colorful.  I hope it brings a smile to the recipient.

Card #3:

My last card demonstrates that I really did get my "sparkle on!"  The image is literally covered in Dazzling Diamonds.  Again, I took all the pieces of this card--background digi paper, polka dot digi paper, image and sentiment from the same set, Bouquet of Daisies.  I'm just loving these new sets that contain all three components.

By adding colored cardstock and a few embellies, you can complete the finished card in minutes.

Can you see the sparkle now?  I know there is more sparkle yet to see as you travel through the blog hop again as most of our design team has multiple posts for the blog hop.  Once we got creating with these springy sets, we just couldn't quit!

Card #1--

I am still totally enamored with bingo card ephemera.  They just make such fun nostalgic embellishments to any card or project.  Using the image and sentiment from Garden Gifts, I printed all my elements for this card on SU Naturals Ivory cardstock.  It's one of my all time favorite cardstock colors.  I distressed each piece heavily to give a little more earthy look to my project.

I use nearly all my digi creations in a more traditional way.  Rather than creating fully digital projects, I print them out and use them as I would hand-stamped images.  To me, that's the best of both worlds.  Then by adding other real embellishments, like the butterfly and brad, some people would never guess I've even used digital images.

Card #2--

Another amazing advantage of digital stamps is the flexibility to resize, flip and rotate.  By doing this you can have hundreds of image possibilities from only a few original digis.  Here I created my own digi background dp, by just covering the top half of a word document sheet with different sizes of the three looped flowers in Doodle Garden color set.  You can use any image in any set and create your own scenes or background dp like this.

I used the ruffled flower as the main image, but copied 4 images the same size.  The I cut out the ruffled "layers" and popped them up with dimensional foam.  Highlighting them with Dazzling Diamonds glitter helps make the layers pop.  The sentiment is from our Garden Inspirations Sentiment set

Card #3--

My final sample is as simple as simple can be, but I think it's bright and cheery too.  This project showcases the Pot of Tulips set.  I used the color flowers, the digi paper, and one of the sentiments that comes with the set.  I love these sets, because you get "it all" in one set...everything you need for the basics of your project.

When printed from my printer, the tulips match one of my favorite SU cardstock colors...Calypso Coral...and I still had some of their delightful skinny organdy ribbon in the same color.

One of the things I love best about digi stamps is the versatility they have for creating your own scenes.  I've taken images from Doodle Garden Color Set and the Garden Accessories Color Set, layered them all and added little grass patches from the Doodle Garden Color set on top.  The sentiment comes from Garden Inspirations Sentiment Set

I popped up the gloves for some dimension.  Pulling together images from several sets creates a fresh feel to your crafting and helps you get out of the box of using images entirely from one set.

Card #2--

One technique I try to use in crafting is echoing.  You can do these through repetitions of color or shapes. Here I used a die that echoes the shape in my designer paper.  When I'm designing digi papers I try to match a lot of my color choices to Stampin' Up! cardstocks because that's the mainstay of my stash.  My computer and printer do a phenomenal job of printing true to the color on my screen.  So I usually get marvelous matches.  My image, sentiment and dig paper all come from one new set, Cup of Tulips.

By matching my colors to my SU cardstock I have the added benefit of have a ready supply of coordinating ribbons and embellishments!  Not all printers are the same, so I never guarantee matches.

Card #3--

My third sample today offers another example of echoing, which is automatically accomplished when you choose our images that have coordinating papers.  These whimsical images are in the Doodle Garden Color set, and are echoed in this paper sheet from the Garden Delights digi paper pack.  Pumpkin Pie is my match on cardstock and ribbon this time and I just happened to have these perfectly coordinating paper flowers.  The sentiment comes from the Cup of Tulips set...remember to mix and match! And I do believe you will find this happy little butterfly on somebody's blog!!!
