Just Us Girls: Color Challenge (FREE Digi Stamps)

When I saw this week's color challenge at Just Us Girls I knew immediately I had to play along.  They've presented my very favorite colors!  I was so amused by the introduction...her fav colors too!  Aren't these GORGEOUS!?

JUGS Blinkie

There are so many beautiful inspirations on the Just Us Girls challenge page, that you really should go take a look.  But before you skip over there, let me share my submission!

I just had a blast with the challenge and this project.  I created a pocket card, and slipped in 3 different little tag-type "booklets" for handwritten notes.  I had a stash of designer papers that were perfect for the Robin Egg Blue used in the challenge.  The papers are from the This and That collection from Stampin' Up!

The pocket contains three little "booklets."  The upper left one is constructed using one of the Vintage Button cards from Daydream Designs.  I still love using those.  I printed the brown version on Naturals Ivory cardstock (SU), inked the edges and stamps some script over the front.

I used sticky tape to adhere the top portion of the button card to a Crumb Cake cardstock back.  I embellished with a strip of designer print paper, pull up tab from linen ribbon, and added a button tied with linen twine.  There's plenty of room for a handwritten or stamped message inside.

The second mini book was created using the Two Tags die from Stampin' Up!  I cut one from Naturals Ivory and one from the This and That designer paper pack.  I trimmed off  the dp one at the perforations and adhered that to the top of the cardstock tag to make the little booklet that opens.  I embellished with the linen ribbon and a metal brad, both from SU.

The third booklet is made from one of my elements from the Sentimental Journal set.  I scored it on the left along one of the vertical lines and stapled it to a square of Soft Sky cardstock.

Creating a pocket card with three booklets gives plenty of room for handwritten notes or to add a couple of special photos.   To create the pocket base I used a piece of 5-1/4 x 9-1/4" Crumb Cake cardstock.  I scored in 1/2 inch along both long sides.  Then I turned the piece horizontally and scored at 5-1/2 and 8-1/4.  Fold up at the 5-1/2" score line, then fold the remaining 1" flap down.  Fold in at the long score lines on both sides.  Trim off as shown in this diagram.

The tabs will wrap around the 5-1/2 " section and adhere in the back.  I covered the back with the same designer print as is on the 1-inch flap.  Before adhering the 1-inch flap down, I wrapped some linen ribbon around it and tied in a knot.  Then I tucked in some crochet lace underneath the flap.

Finally, I embellished the finished pocket card with a remnant of a crochet lace doily and some punched out butterflies.

I'm excited to enter this creation into the Just Us Girls challenge for this week and I can't wait to get all the other inspiration from participants.  Hope your's will be linked their too!
